I was on a discovery call a few days ago with a prospect and she (the business owner) was telling me how she has been posting on socials consistently but not seeing any results and the thought of creating a content strategy overwhelmed her and she wasn’t sure where to start and how to go about creating one that will actually get her results.
I hear this so often! Just posting on socials isn’t enough, it is important to have a working strategy that is customized to get you the results you want.
But how to develop an effective content marketing strategy without getting overwhelmed??
I take a simple 4 step approach:
1. Define your goal; Know your goals before you begin planning, and you'll have an easier time determining what's best for your strategy.
2. Define your target audience who you want to deliver your content to. Get as specific as you can like, their age, gender, education, profession, where they work, their attitude, how they purchase, why they are a good target audience.
3. Build your customer journey (and keep it simple!) Understand how you move people through your marketing and sales funnel.
4. Create content that speaks to your customers based on where they are in the customer journey.
